Warranty · The fine print, written down
Lifetime warranty on body and paint.
For as long as you own the vehicle. No fine-print asterisks. The full terms are on this page and on every invoice we hand out.
What's covered
Paint adhesion
If repainted paint peels, flakes, or fails to adhere to the panel — for any reason that isn't a new collision or chemical contamination — we re-do it free.
Color match
If a paint blend visibly differs from the surrounding panels under normal light, we re-blend it. (Test: stand 10 feet away in daylight. If you can pick out the repaired panel without being told, it isn't a match.)
Structural workmanship
If a repaired panel, bracket, or frame section fails because of how it was repaired — not because of a new event — we fix it free.
Mechanical parts replaced during a repair
1-year limited warranty on mechanical parts. If a mechanical part we installed during a body repair fails inside the window, bring the car back; we cover replacement at no charge.
What's not covered
Being clear up front beats finding out later. The warranty does not cover:
- →Damage from a new collision. Hit the same panel again and it's a new repair, not a warranty job.
- →Normal wear. Paint will age, even good paint. UV exposure, road grit, and tens of thousands of car washes will eventually take a toll on any finish.
- →Stone chips and rock cracks. Front-end paint will eventually pick up chips from highway driving — that's the road, not the paint job. (Stone-chip damage on a windshield is also not covered; that's what comprehensive glass coverage is for.)
- →Chemical contamination. Tree sap, bird droppings, or industrial fallout left on paint for weeks can permanently damage clearcoat. Wash regularly.
- →Aftermarket modifications applied after we deliver the car. Wraps, ceramic coats, paint protection film, or other paint-touching add-ons applied elsewhere void the paint warranty on the affected panels.
- →Repairs you declined. If we recommended replacing a damaged panel and you opted for a cheaper repair instead, we'll honor the warranty on the work we did do — but a repaired panel that should have been replaced is on you.
- →Tires, wear items, customer-supplied parts. Manufacturer warranties apply where the manufacturer extends them.
How to claim warranty work
-
1 · Keep your invoice
The invoice is the warranty document. It lists the panels repaired, the paint code used, the date of repair, and the warranty terms. Toss the invoice in the glove box.
-
2 · Call us when something's off
Call (415) 292-2962 or stop by 2340 Lombard. Describe what you're seeing — usually we can tell over the phone whether it's a warranty fix, normal wear, or something new.
-
3 · Bring the car in
We look at the work, compare it to the invoice + original photos, and tell you straight whether it's warrantable. If it is, we schedule the redo — usually within 1–2 weeks depending on scope.
-
4 · We fix it. No charge.
Warrantable work is on us. You don't pay the deductible, the insurer isn't involved (it's our work to make right, not an insurance event), and the warranty stays in force after the redo.
Warranty terms you can actually read.
No legal-pad fine print. No "manager approval required." If we did the work and it fails, bring it back. Questions? Call (415) 292-2962.
