Common detailing questions

What does auto detailing include?

Exterior: hand wash, clay-bar paint decontamination, machine polish (if requested), wheel and tire dressing, window cleaning, trim restoration. Interior: vacuum, surface wipe-down, leather conditioning, carpet shampoo (on full detail), interior glass. Add-ons: engine bay cleaning, paint correction (multi-stage polish), ceramic-coat application.

How much does auto detailing cost?

Express detail (wash + vacuum + window): $80–$150. Standard detail (full exterior + interior): $180–$350 depending on vehicle size and condition. Full detail with clay-bar + machine polish + interior shampoo: $350–$700. Paint correction (multi-stage polish to remove swirl marks and shallow scratches): $400–$1,200.

Do I get detail included with a body repair?

Yes — most repair jobs leave with a wash, vacuum, and interior wipe-down at no extra charge. If the repair involved sanding or paint work, we clay-bar the surrounding panels so airborne overspray doesn't stick. It's a small thing but customers always appreciate getting the car back cleaner than they brought it in.

What's clay-bar treatment and do I need it?

A clay bar is a putty-like material that pulls embedded contaminants (brake dust, road tar, tree sap, industrial fallout) out of the clearcoat. Even on a freshly washed car you'll feel the surface — run a clean hand over the hood after washing; if it feels gritty rather than glass-smooth, clay-bar treatment will help. Recommended every 6–12 months for cars parked outside.

Can detailing remove swirl marks and shallow scratches?

Light swirl marks and shallow scratches (you can feel them with a fingernail tap but not catch on them): yes, machine polish can remove them. Deeper scratches (your fingernail catches): no, that's through the clearcoat into the base — needs touch-up or a repaint. We tell you which kind you have before quoting.

How long does a full detail take?

Express detail: 1–2 hours. Standard full detail: 3–4 hours. Paint correction + interior shampoo: half a day to a full day depending on the vehicle's condition. Drop off morning, pick up afternoon for most jobs.
