Common Asian-import body questions

Do you work on Toyota, Honda, Lexus, and Nissan?

Yes — Asian import body and paint is a significant share of our daily work. Camrys, Corollas, RAV4s, Accords, Civics, CR-Vs, ES350s, RX350s, Altimas, Pathfinders — all routine. Most parts arrive same-day or next-day from local SF parts distributors, so jobs typically move faster than European work.

Are you Honda ProFirst or Toyota Genuine certified?

Not currently. Honda ProFirst, Toyota Genuine Collision, and similar OEM cert programs require manufacturer-specific equipment investment and ongoing fees. As an independent shop, we prioritize trade craft over cert logos. That said: we use OEM or quality OEM-equivalent parts, factory-color-matched paint, and standard industry collision-repair procedures. For repair work that doesn't require a manufacturer-proprietary structural procedure (most jobs), this is a non-issue.

Do you work on Tesla?

Only on cosmetic non-structural work — bumper covers, door dents, paintwork on steel-bodied parts. Tesla aluminum structural collision repair requires Tesla Approved Body certification (specific rivets, bonding adhesives, training, equipment). We don't have it, and we won't take work we shouldn't. For Tesla structural collision, ask us — we'll point you to a Tesla Approved body shop in SF.

Why does paint on older Toyotas, Lexus, and Hondas often need full repaint, not touch-up?

Several Asian-import paint codes from the 2005–2015 era — particularly white pearls, silver metallics, and certain blues — suffered from clearcoat oxidation and peel in California sun. By the time it's visible (milky white patches on the hood, roof, or rear deck), the clearcoat is failing across the whole panel, not just where it shows. Touch-up won't hold. Per-panel repaint or full vehicle repaint is the only durable fix.

I drive a Prius. Anything special for hybrid collision repair?

Most hybrid collision work is identical to a non-hybrid Toyota. The exception: work near the high-voltage battery, traction motor, or HV cabling requires the system to be powered down and disconnected before repair — and we follow Toyota's service procedure for that. Battery pack itself is in the rear floor on a Prius; rear-end collisions need careful inspection of pack integrity before repair proceeds.

Will paint match older Lexus / Toyota factory pearl colors?

Yes — production paint codes are well-documented and we match off the VIN. For older vehicles with significant sun fade, we always verify the match against the adjacent panel before committing, and blend into neighboring panels so any imperceptible drift gets diffused.

Korean brands — Hyundai, Kia, Genesis?

Yes — Sonata, Elantra, Tucson, Santa Fe, Optima, Forte, Sportage, Telluride, G70, G80. Korean body work is straightforward and parts are widely available.
